The OU Amnesty Group supports the work of Amnesty International by raising awareness within the university about human rights abuses occurring throughout the world and involving students in current campaigns.

6th week: (Tuesday 8 - 9 in Lecture Room 23, Balliol College) Professor Rosemary Foot will talk about Human Rights and Counter-terrorism in America's Asia policy. Professor of International Relations, Foot has published on the cold war history of the Asia-Pacific and on post cold war international developments in the region. She is primarily interested in security relations, human rights, and political change.

7th week: (Tuesday 8 - 9 in Lecture Room 23, Balliol College) Bail for Immigration Detainees (BID). Winner of the Liberty/Justice Human Rights Act 2001, BID is a charity which provides free assistance to immigration detainees to allow them to challenge their detention. This talk will centre upon the current detention system, its real impact on detainees and future effects and changes to the system.
